Brett Levick, CA(SA) Managing Director
Brett holds an Honours degree in Accounting and Tax from the University of Natal, is a qualified Chartered Accountant of South Africa and holds a Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of Johannesburg.
Brett has had a distinguished finance career, starting at KPMG, and later transitioning to Nedbank Capital for 12 years where he gained invaluable expertise in investment banking, including project finance, asset management, corporate finance, and empowerment funding. Brett then joined HSBC as the Head of Project Finance: Metals and Mining, overseeing limited recourse project finance deals across Sub-Saharan Africa and Continental Europe over a 5-year period.
With over 25 successful transactions and more than USD10 billion of debt finance raised, Brett has an impressive track record across multiple global regions. In 2015, he founded WaterBorne Capital, a company focused on project finance and advisory services in the natural resources sector, leveraging his extensive experience in this field.
Sacha Vaughan, CFA Director
Sacha is a CFA charterholder with 20 years of experience across investment banking, financial advisory, and infrastructure project development in Africa, the UK, Europe, and the Nordics. He holds a BCom in Financial Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability from the University of Cape Town.
As a Director at WaterBorne Capital, Sacha leads the firm’s advisory team, delivering capital raising, financial structuring, and strategic support across the energy, transport, mining, and infrastructure sectors. He is actively involved in early-stage project development and works closely with both public and private clients to mobilise investment into critical infrastructure and technologies driving the energy transition.
He began his career on RBS’s derivatives trading desk in London before joining Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, where he supported renewable energy transactions across their full lifecycle, from origination through operations. Subsequent leadership roles included advising on complex energy transition strategies and circular economy project development at Ikigai Capital, and leading the structuring of carbon finance products, risk analysis, and risk engine design at Opna to support climate-aligned investment decisions.
Ryan Skirving, CA(SA) Senior Associate
Ryan is a Chartered Accountant of South Africa and holds a Master’s degree in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. He plays a senior leadership role within WaterBorne Capital, overseeing the Advisory team’s deal execution and contributing to the firm’s broader strategy for African capital mobilisation.
He has extensive experience leading transactions across the continent, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to structure bankable deals and raise capital, ensuring a project’s successful financial close. Ryan works closely with clients to negotiate with lenders, manage stakeholder engagement, and oversee the legal process. His skillset spans project finance, platform structuring, business strategy, and financial optimisation, serving clients across infrastructure, energy, mining, and emerging ventures.
Before joining WaterBorne Capital, Ryan worked in London for Deloitte, where he advised a range of private equity and professional services clients. He now plays a key role in developing talent and delivery standards within the firm’s advisory practice.
Zandri Rheeder CA(SA) Senior Financial Manager
Zandri is a Chartered Accountant of South Africa with a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Accounting Science. She brings extensive experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and team leadership across both listed and private entities.
At WaterBorne Asset Management, Zandri provides project-level financial oversight and operational leadership. She focuses on delivering accurate, timely financial information and driving process optimisation to support the long-term success of client portfolios. With a calm, methodical approach and a deep understanding of financial systems and reporting, she brings credibility, control, and structure to the project she supports.
Zandri began her career working with complex financial instruments and regulatory reporting before specialising in asset and fund accounting. Zandri led the build-out of WaterBorne’s asset management function, developing operational procedures, overseeing client relationships, and managing financial operations.
